Social Media Builds Credibility

Social Media Builds Credibility

Social media, while daunting, overwhelming, complicated, time consuming, you name it- is absolutely necessary for your business. Social media builds credibility and you have to understand this, adapt, and excel at it.

When prospects visit your website, they also check out your social media sites as well. So while you may not have gotten a sales lead because of your Facebook, Twitter, or LinkedIn (to name a few) page yet, how does it look when you have 25 “likes” on Facebook, 10 followers on twitter and you have not posted anything in over a month. Next they check out your competitor who has 1,800 “likes” on Facebook and 1,000 followers on Twitter. In addition, there is a lot of activity on all their social media pages, great advice/related content, and they have recommendations. Now imagine your prospects are out of state and looking to buy a product or service. Who would you trust and who would you buy from? You can now start to understand how social media builds credibility.

“Approximately 46% of online users count on social media when making a purchase decision”, says Nielsen. Hubspot also stated that “social media produces almost double the marketing leads of trade shows, telemarketing, direct mail, or PPC”. But keep telling yourself that it is not important, you do not have time, and you will do it later.

There is no time like the present. What is the best way to tackle social media for your business? Start now. Every day block off about an hour per day to focus on all your social media pages. You can even schedule posts in advance with https://hootsuite.com/. Keep your content relevant and engaging (use pictures, ask questions, utilize polls).  Ask yourself, what is the compelling reason my prospects and customers should follow me on Twitter and “like” my Facebook page? I know companies that offer coupons, run promotions, etc… on their social media pages. Be creative!

With credibility comes sales because “people buy from people they know, like, and trust.” Follow us for the next article on turning your social media pages into revenue.
